Pasta is one of my ultimate comfort foods. There are days where I'm just not up to making it from scratch and that jar of alfredo is going to work just fine. I'm going to show you how to jazz it up and take it to the next level.
This works great because you can use any pasta you have on hand, make the chicken however you want, jazz up a canned sauce and add in extra veggies. Totally customizable to your tastes, budget and what you have on hand.
Recipe below, let's stir up some kitchen magic!
Lazy Chicken Alfredo
-1 lb boneless, skinless chicken breast
-1 jar of Alfredo sauce
-8 ounces of pasta
-1 tbsp minced garlic
-Garlic salt, pepper, onion salt, paprika (adjust to taste)
-2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
-1/2 cup heavy cream
-1/4 cup grated parmesan cheese
-Pinch of ground nutmeg
-1/4 tsp black pepper
*Start some oil in a pan over medium heat. Cut up a large boneless, skinless chicken breast and add to the pan with your minced garlic. Season as your heart desires, I go with garlic salt, pepper, onion salt and paprika to give it a little color. While that is cooking, bring a large pot of water to boil and add your pasta of choice.
Once your chicken is cooked, we are going to add the jarred sauce right to the pan, making sure we scrape the bottom of the pan and get those delicious flavors incorporated. Add in heavy cream, nutmeg and black pepper. Once your pasta is done, return to pan and add the sauce mixture to the pasta. Add in your cheeses here and give everything a mix. Let it sit for a few minutes before serving.
You can add in spinach or mushrooms as well, serve with a side salad and some bread and you are good to go! It's easy to have something amazing at home with canned stuff you jazz up!
